Olivia is a collaborative project brought to life in partnership by one of Australia’s most influential and highly regarded architects, Christopher Doyle, with renowned landscape architect, Jack Merlo. A tailored design, with a focus on superior project outcomes, exceptional workmanship and timeless quality.

Christopher Doyle Architects has acquired a longstanding reputation in Toorak for fine luxury residential architecture.

Whilst the firm’s catalogue reflects an impressive range of projects in terms of scale and typology, what has emerged over the last decade is a quietly robust, serious and highly articulate architectural voice, grounded in both architectural traditions and the complexity of modern construction.

Solutions reflect both context and program, whilst working closely with enlightened topend clients and developers to achieve outcomes characterised by a passion for excellence.

Penmanship reveals a commitment to refinement, lightness and solidity. Christopher’s ideals and sense of history has been inspired by his passionate engagement with both traditional cities and buildings and his love and observation of painting and nature. Inspired by a wide range of local and European traditions. Christopher resolves his designs with local authenticity, whilst remaining respectful to the well-established conventions of local traditions and context.

Christopher’s work is at once comfortable and welcoming, grand yet intimate. They are a work of ‘timeless’ art and a sanctuary from the world outside, surrounding its occupants with the warm splendor and beautiful proportions.

Ultimately, Christopher’s body of work presents a catalogue of finely designed residential architecture for Melbourne’s most discerning clients. Elegant and exclusive, Christopher brings together his ‘timeless’ design approach with the demands for contemporary luxury living, fusing new and familiar, in this highly sought after location.

Jack Merlo leads Australia's premier landscape architecture studio. Each project receives his personal attention, from the initial client brief to the final contract documentation.

Following several high profile awards including a Gold Medal win at the RHS Chelsea Flower show in 2005, Jack launched his successful landscape architecture studio. With his attention to detail, and his highly considered designs to suit a wide range of private house styles in Melbourne's most established suburbs, Jack's reputation soon grew along with the size of his South Yarra studio.

Jack enjoys close working relationships with many leading architects and developers and is highly sought after as a partner on high-end single residence, multi-residential and commercial projects. In recent years he has designed landscapes that range from private courtyard gardens to expansive rooftop lounges and many other innovative outdoor spaces.

Jack Merlo takes pride in bringing a unique architectural approach to landscape design, creating spaces that people will appreciate for years to come. Each new project is an individual and considered response to the vision of his client, bringing an ordered and organic form to the built environment.
